Using Excel Conditional Formats for Traffic Lighting

Tue, 22 Apr 2008 04:49:31 PDT

Observations of the Mortgage Market

Tue, 22 Apr 2008 14:24:41 PDT
Over the past two weeks I've had the opportunity to speak with dozens of potential home buyers around the country. Here are some of the key trends/takeaways I've noticed. 1. People in formerly bubble markets - California & Florida specifically - are excited at the prospect of more affordable housing. The question of prices dropping further is not a consideration, affordable monthly payments are. 2. Most people are unaware of the changes in the credit markets. Some are still looking for sta

Unexploded Bomb Update

Tue, 22 Apr 2008 15:57:38 PDT
The bomb found on the beach yesterday morning was positively identified as a 500kg German shell from the Second World War. It was much bigger than at first thought and specialists have said that it has the potential to wipe out half the sea front and cause structural damage up to half a mile away. Felixstowe was a prime target during the last big war due to the military use of sea planes at one end of the town and the effort made with radar at Bawdsey Manor at the other. Public: Don't Mess With My Flight Plans

Sun, 13 Aug 2006 11:58:25 PDT
"Pretty soon we'll have to fly naked!" The mass media rapidly embraced the UK terror storyline fed to them. The BBC, CNN, CBC Newsworld and other all-news broadcasters covered scarcely anything but the narrowly averted catastrophe throughout the day. Funny thing, but the general public wasn't buying it. The reaction was surprisingly cynical...

A Viewer Speaks

Wed, 02 Apr 2008 08:05:29 PDT
WE GET A good group of commenters here in Sticksville. Lately, we've been hearing quite a bit from a young woman from the Prairies, who has an openminded attitude toward Canadian shows, and an engaged and passionate way of defending them. On the subject of all the changes going on at the CBC, I think she's expressed the necessary corrective point of view better than Richard Stursberg, Kirstine Leyfield, or anybody else at the public broadcaster has managed to do. Rescinded offers, no offers, no interviews - Resilience Accelerant

Mon, 21 Apr 2008 22:19:39 PDT
April is turning out to be the cruelest month of all for those of us who need work - full-time or consulting. On Abovethelaw.com, David Lat reports on rescinded offers. Lat cites the smaller number of those in law compared to the financial-sector. For example, law has been experiencing none of the Bear maulings in which 250 new hires had the offer snatched back. But, proportional suffering doesn't help the sufferer. I know. It's irrelevant that myriad colleagues have less ongoing work tha
